When should I turn my system off for the winter?
Our fall weather varies tremendously both in terms of temperature and precipitation. We have winterized peoples systems only to have them turn them on again due to a warm spell coming late in the season. If you live above 7000 ft., I suggest turning you system off in late Sept. or early Oct. If you live in the valley, and have an exposed backflow preventer or above ground piping, turn it off no later than Oct. 15th. Many systems in the valley are safe until the end of October. You are welcome to call our office for our recommendation for your system, but we cannot take responsibility for damage to your system if inclement weather occurs. In a dry winter, you may need to water certain trees with a garden hose.
